3 Ways Chelsea Could Line Up in Defence During the 2020/21 Season

Chelsea is on shopping this summer, something very special nd extraordinary is happening at Chelsea Football Club. An exceptional transfer window is getting better day by day, with four signings alone coming through the doors at Stamford Bridge in the last week.

Having already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, the Blues bought in Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva to hugely bolster their defence. For a team who conceded 54 goals - their worst league tally in 23 years - last season, it is exactly what they needed to improve and move forward under Lampard.

Lampard now has a surplus of defenders at his disposal, and while some look set to move on, he'll have plenty of players to work with. He has options galore for a back four and back three, putting Chelsea in strong position to push on and potentially challenge for the Premier league.

 1. Azpilicueta-Silva-Zouma-Chillwell

Of all the backline options Chelsea have, this is by far their strongest. Integrating their new recruits with their best defenders, it is a no brainer to deploy this back four for must-win games - of which there will definitely be many during the upcoming season.

Keeping captain Azpilicueta at right-back is crucial, as well as maintaining his rightful status as skipper. Chilwell will instantly be Lampard’s first choice on the left, though may need time to settle in and find his feet at Stamford Bridge.

Silva is the obvious selection, seeing his current form it's a no brainer .which leaves Kurt Zouma as his lucky partner. The Frenchman was the Blues’ best centre-back in a tumultuous campaign, and with the quality shown and potential he has, Zouma can really grow into a top defender alongside his new Brazilian counterpart.

2. Azpilicueta-Silva-M.sarr-Chillwell

The only change in this line will be M.sarr in place of Zouma, M.sarr has all the qualities to be a world's best defender one day , speed, physical strength, defensive awareness, positioning and all makes him a top notch baller . it's rare to see him in starting but certainly he will come off the bench and certainly oneday start the game for Chelsea.

3. James-Silva-Rudiger-Chillwell

Whether it is for rotation, tactics or due to an injury, no Azpilicueta again paves the way for James to start at right-back.

Where does Antonio Rüdiger’s future at Stamford Bridge lie? The addition of Silva puts the German in peril, and in a season where he lost his starting spot on several occasions, his best opportunity may be in a back three when Chelsea are rotating their squad.

In another instance of Azpilicueta’s possible absence, Silva will comfortably fill in with the captain’s armband. Zouma’s partnership with the Brazilian could be formidable, but it will be interesting to see how they operate with Rüdiger on the left.

Does Koeman deserve another chance at BARCELONA?

Though i respect Koeman as a Barcelona Legend but for me Ronald koeman is simply not a coach Barca need at the moment, though he has done a great job by accepting a job at the worst time in the club's history, he has done a great job with the players he has, he does have a cule heart and is pretty much involved in the teams' dynamics intensely, took charge of club in their worst time in history while leaving his easier job at Netherland's national team is something everyone liked but he is not that great coach, which barca need at the moment. Starting a season with the worst record since Rijkaard era, but improving in the latter part of the season is great but it all came against weaker opponents, his tactics and game awareness lacks everytime he coach, his record against top 4 Spanish teams are even worst, shows his incompetency to compete tactically, worst record at camp nou has been produced during his tenure. Match Analysis (Barca vs Bilbao) (1-1)-A Wakeup call

Playing vs Athletic in Bilbao is always a difficult task for Barça, and the game yesterday was no exception. However, it was an important wake-up call for Koeman and his players. Question is – Did he listen to the alarming sounds or will we see more games like this. It’s fair to say that Athletic Bilbao were the better team vs Barça, that failed to dominate the game. Moreover, the defense looked very bad. However, there were some good points to take from the game. Let’s start with them: Good Points Although it’s just the start of the season, the signing of Memphis Depay looks like a ‘Bingo’ so far. After Leo Messi left, Memphis quickly turned out as the main force in the Blaugrana attack. Yesterday it felt like he was there all alone trying to score and assist. Moreover, other players ruined good chances he created. And yes I’m talking about the awful miss of Braithwaite in the first minutes. The game could develop a lot different if he scored that goal. But overall great p...
